Position Type: Temporary, part-time position (20 hours/week, flexible within 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday), in-office, 10-12 weeks (May-August) 

Compensation: $15/hour, non-exempt.

Box Butte Development Corporation, known locally as BBDC, is a 501(c)4 not-for-profit organization formed to lead the economic development efforts in Box Butte County. BBDC offers programs for local businesses and entrepreneurs, supports affordable housing initiatives, advocates for childcare programs, and serves as a contact point for businesses considering a new site in Box Butte County, Nebraska.

Position Overview 

BBDC seeks a detail-driven Data Entry Specialist to support the digitization of paper files and data entry for a new CRM database. This temporary part-time position reports to the Interim Executive Director. The Data Entry Specialist reviews legacy paperwork and prioritizes files to scan and organize digital storage. This position also collects information about the businesses and people we work with to enter into a new CRM database. An ideal candidate has experience with using a CRM database, but we will provide training regardless. It is important for the Data Entry Specialist to be highly accurate when entering, reviewing, and verifying data. They need to be able to spot inconsistencies and correct errors quickly. The Data Entry Specialist works closely with the Interim Executive Director to report issues, inconsistencies, or missing information to strengthen internal systems.  

 

This is also an opportunity to build professional skills in administration and business relations. You can work with the Interim Executive Director to identify parts of the work that interests you to learn more about. Tasks such as attending meetings and taking notes, preparing and directing communications with the public, and reviewing grant guidelines could be included in your scope of work, if interested, but are not required. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Scan paper files and organize them digitally. 
  • Help refine and improve data entry guides. 
  • Compile information on constituents from diverse sources including Excel documents, business cards, and application forms. 
  • Research information on constituents such as contact details and business attributes. 
  • Create new records in the CRM constituent database using data entry guides. 
  • Maintain confidentiality around business and constituent information. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.). 
  • Ability to perform basic data cleaning and validation. 
  • Experience maintaining digital files or working in an office environment. 
  • Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information.
