Times are tough right now for Box Butte County residents, but we are lucky to have a community which cares.  We have many resources in the area to help you through the times of economic distress.  Box Butte Development Corporation, Nebraska Workforce Development, Alliance Chamber of Commerce, and Box Butte General Hospital will be hosting an employment resource fair to inform the public about the various organizations and resources in the area.

June 16, 2009 2-6pm at the Alliance Learning Center will be resources available discussing topics ranging from unemployment insurance, continued education, starting a new business, stress and credit management, assistance with food, utilities, medical insurance, and much more. 

The employment resource fair will be casual and information based.  Many area organizations will be present to answer questions and supply information.  This fair is not only for our unemployed but those that are currently employed and may want information on the services available in our area.  If you or anyone you know may be in need of information to make these times a little easier please visit us any time between 2-6pm June 16, 2009 at the Alliance Learning Center.

Pumpkin Creek Candle Co. started in the kitchen of Gina Curtis in 2005.  Gina decided that she wanted to make some handmade Christmas gifts for family & friends, and thought that candles would be a great gift to give.

Gina soon realized that there was a lot more to making candles then just mixing some fragrance in some wax and pouring it in a jar with a wick.  She learned that there was a "science" to making a good candle.  A candle requires the right wax, fragrance oil, and wick combination for it to burn correctly.  Gina started testing her candles until she came up with what she felt was as good or better than most of the candles currently available in department stores.

It was only natural that she should then find other things that would beautify your body and home.

In February of 2007 Gina opened a new shop where she now carries over 30 scents in two sizes of jars, and also carries handmade soaps, lotions, body sprays, and other great smelling products.  Come and see all of our vinyl wall decoration.  They can be applied to walls, ceramic tiles and a variety of other surfaces.  Custom designs are available.  The shop also has handmade western decor and other gift items.
